The whole object of travel is not to set foot on foreign land; it is at last to set foot on one’s own country as a foreign land.” – G.K. Chesterton

Back to the cold

We enjoyed the warmth of Malaysian tropical climate and Perth's summer weather, ate lots of yummy food, spent quality time with family and friends, and now we're back to the cold in Tokyo. The above image (comprising of three shots stitched together) is half of the panorama I took at Pantai Cenang in Langkawi just in front of our beachfront motel room. I miss the warmth already, but it is good to be back.

I have lots to tell and photos to show, and they will come in time.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Wishing everyone a Happy & Prosperous Chinese New Year!

Interesting facts:
- The Solar Year is the time interval taken for the sun to complete its elliptical path relative to the earth, or 365.25 days. The Solar Calendar adds one day every four years ("Leap Year").
- The Chinese follow the Lunisolar Calendar based on the lunar cycle. The Chinese year may consist 12 or 13 months because the Chinese Calendar adds an intercalary month every two or three years.
- The Muslims follow the Lunar Year which always consist of 12 lunar months following the 12 lunations in a Solar Year. There are only 354.37 days in a lunar year which results in 13 Lunar Years in 12 Solar Years.

Rob and I will be going on a 2-week vacation starting tomorrow, so I will be absent for awhile from my journal.
