The whole object of travel is not to set foot on foreign land; it is at last to set foot on one’s own country as a foreign land.” – G.K. Chesterton

Still here..

We recently upgraded our computer to the Mac mini, and I'm still getting used to using it. I haven't yet figured out the best program to edit photos, and Rob hasn't told me how to upload the photos to the server, which are partly why this blog has been a little quiet for the past two weeks. I've also had my hands full with other things which unfortunately takes precedence over blogging.

Do stay tuned because I plan to be online very soon.

  1. What program in windows would you normally use to edit photos?
For photo management there is iPhoto, Picasa, Aperture (what i use), LightRoom
For uploading if you need ftp/random file upload use Cyberduck.

  2. Thanks for the tips. We don't use Windows, and we previously used Linux. I disliked using Apple computers but it doesn't seem too bad now. Still kinda annoying to use, but a bit more user-friendly than a few years ago.

  3. Ahh which linux distro? (i use ubuntu, debian & slackware, havent used redhat since high school).
Any app you know and love on linux can pretty much be used on a mac, many will have native ports and for those that dont os x includes an X server. You might want to look into Fink (which is a bit like apt for debian) which provides a huge range of linux software compiled for os x.

  4. Debian. Rob's the computer guy, so I happily leave everything up to him to get up and running. Poor guy spent a couple of weekends integrating our previous system with the mini. And that's with also looking after our 5mth old while I get chores and groceries done.
